Day 15 Activity 2 (Kids 100 years ago)

After exploring the gallery I decide to walk across the street to the national museum. It is an amazing place! There is so much information about the history of the country in this museum.

After walking for a little while you come across a display with pictures of children that were taken in 1901 (over 100 years ago)! In this picture, the children are working on a local farm, milking cows. They are not going to school. Back in those days, children usually went to school until they reached the age of 12 or 13. They then left school and went to work. Imagine that I were alive 100 years ago. How would I feel if I had to leave school at the age of 12 I Would be sad.

  1. Hi Jahzara!

That's a bit of a short answer. Can you tell me what you might do instead of school? What kinds of things might you do for your family? What might you do for fun with your friends?

I'd like to know a little bit more.

    1. Hi Jahzara!

      That sounds fun!

Do you think you would get a job or help the family earn money? I think a lot of students 100 years ago finished school at 12 because they were finally big enough to help on the farm, and that was more important to their families than going to University.

Would you help on the farm if your family lived in one 100 years ago?

And one more question... what might you like to do when you grow up?
