Immersion Assembly~Term 3 :)

Welcome back to Term 3! Today is the first day back to school. We started off with an Immersion Assembly, discussing what this Terms theme is. Which is ' A World Of Difference ' First up was Team 1.

Team one mostly focused on how other people from other countries get to school, what they eat for lunch and what they do after school. Their main focus is to learn more about different countries. What they do before school, after and during. Schools in other countries are different to us and so I think it'll be cool that they're looking at how they work :)

Team Two had a set of the cartoon Dora. It was a cool way to present their movie. They had a look at other places around New Zealand. They had a look at the many famous places like, Rotorua and the mud pools, Queens town and the snow, ETC. They also made the choice to not only explore New Zealand but to also explore the world :)

Team 3 made a movie based off of 'The Amazing race.' Due to covid-19, some people haven't been able to travel the world. So they found a way to travel without getting on a plane. The amazing race had a whole bunch of challenges to complete. Visiting the many well known places around the world. Traveling to Egypt, New York, Rio and more.

Team 4! Team 4 looked at the different foods in other counties. They ate and discussed about where it comes from. They explored Google Earth and explored their food. I reckon this would be an amazing way to learn about different countries as many people do love food.

Team 5 based their movie off Sina and the Eel. We'll be looking at different Myths and Legends that link to different traditions and countries. We'll be showing our learning through, movies and animations. Although I know a few Myths around the polynesian area, it'll be cool learning more about different legends all around.

I'm very excited to learn lots this year. A fresh start to the term! Lets make the most of it :)

First day of school! Term 2, here we come!

It's the first day back to school so, it's time to get back into the school vibes. Waking up early, charging your chrome book and getting to school on time is all apart of getting back into the school vibes.

As we walk into the big red doors, I see many of my friends running in joy to see me. *JUMP* They jump and give me a massive hug! It feels nice to be back at school. Doing some more learning will bring my brain back to life. Also hanging with my friends will bring me joy!

Walking into the hall, I see on the big screen, "Something in the water!" "He mea e roto wai." Team 5 sits on the red chairs and wait for our immersion assembly to start. Finally, we say the karakia and get on with our day. 

One of my favorite items was Team 4! Team Four's film was fun to watch and had some interesting facts too. It was suitable and enjoyable for all ages. Attempting to get an outstanding view of the Pt England beach but, was interrupted by Mrs. Sio. It seemed a bit cold to go out for a swim, but the Team 4 teachers had no fear. Well, that is after their bodies met the cold water. Wait, then, what eats the seagull?

"In the Gene is the DNA. DNA in the Chromosome. Chromosome in the Nucleus. Nucleus in the Cell." Team 5 teachers presented a song to the school. It was a pretty quick song, but I would love to learn it. How are all living organisms connected? This term for inquiry Team 5 is going to be explaining how all living organisms are connected (Stay tuned for blog posts about how all living organisms connected.)

Overall, my favorite part of immersion assembly was, getting the opportunity to try different types of seafood. Mr. Burt and the prefects didn't have any stickers to give out so, they improvised and gave out (Not your everyday) seafood.

Task description:

Schools back in business! We know how Immersion Assembly works right? Well, that's what we had today. All fun things and yummy food met together and provided us with an amazing day back to school! Let's have a good term Team 5 and Pt England school!

First day back! (Immersion assembly)

Walt: Write a recount
We are finally back to school! The school holidays are over and lots of schools are back and learning! This morning I got welcomed into my class by my friends. We talked about what we did and what happened in our school holidays!

We started as usual, at 8:30 we have a team 5 assembly. After our team assembly we made our way to the hall for the immersion assembly! As sitting down on the chairs I looked up to see the new theme for this term! “I Like Your Latitude” is theme for this term! Latitude means how far  east and west we are in the world. Then, longitude means how far north and south we are in the world!

Team 1 was the first to share there movie! Team one shared a movie about our bees dying and, why we need them in our world. The movie that was presented included CCD which means, Colony collapse disorder. Team 2 presented a movie about finding Easter eggs. They looked up and down, left and right and all around. They looked under tables to find the Easter eggs.

Team 3 shared a movie about pick a paths. Team 3 made a movie about walking to school, there were different pathways to walking to school. The options were walking through a forest, walking through the beach and also, going to the shops. Team 4 made a movie about finding their own way back to school from Pak’n save, without google maps, or a car, just each other and a compass. Mr Goodwin set all the other team 4 teacher on this trip and at the end they found their way back to school.

Team 5 presented a short play. The play was about travelling around the world and was also about longitude and latitude. Miss Tapuke had to choose continents to travel to. She used a magic stick called a “fly swatter.” The first country she went to Europe. She went to Paris, France. Instead of going to countries they went to the continents. They missed two continents. Those continents were, Australia and Antarctica.Team 5 mad this play enjoyable with some funny parts too!

After the immersion assembly we went off to class and started the first day of school! How was your first day of school?

Task Description:

In this piece of writing room 3 had to write a recount about the immersion assembly we had on the first day back to school. We had to talk about the movies that were shared in immersion assembly. I had written about teams 1-5's movie's/ play.  This was a writing about a recount and so we had to write about what had happened in immersion assembly.

Immersion Assembly

Welcome everybody to a new start. It’s time for term 4!! Our theme for this term is musical madness. It might of been easy to guess we are going to be learning about music!! Anyways i’m not here to talk about what the theme for this term i’m here to talk about our immersion assembly.

Walking to the hall I was so excited to be back at school. We walked in and saw teachers all dressed up with some musical instruments. Mr Burt was dressed up as Bob Marley. Anyways it was time for team 1. Team 1 played with cards, they played snap. While they were playing they put on some music. When the music was played they changed their emotions so they changed the songs again and their emotions changed again. Finally it was over, once it was over Mrs Hockley said this term we are going to be seeing how music changes our emotions. I thought that was a great idea.

Next was team 2!! Team two’s item was about making music with musical instruments. They sang a song and also played musical instruments they sang in the jungle the mighty jungle. Ms Gaston played the ukulele. Miss Peck played the tambourine. Ms Tumahai played the xylophone, and Mrs Nalder played the bongo drums. It was a great way to start off the term.

You know what i’m going to say it’s time for team 3!! Team 3 did a song story. A song story is when you say something but carries on with a song. Team three’s  item was funny and really cool. My favorite song that they used was me myself and I. My favourite part in the movies was when Miss Davis pretended she was hanging from the roof. Don’t worry it was a green screen.

Now it was time for, team 4!! Team four did carpool karaoke. It was quit funny. Anyways as they were driving music came on and the teachers started singing. As the music changed it got funnier and funnier. My favourite song was one of the rock songs Because all the teachers were really funny and crazy. Then it was over and finally I could stop laughing.

It’s time for team 5. Team 5 was the funniest item that i’ve seen. Team 5 teacher did an  act. Team 5 watched a movie the movie was lion king. Team 5 didn’t watch the whole movie they just watched the part where Simba was put up in the air while the kingdom sang a song. As the movie played on that part of the movie kept repeating and repeating. While the song kept changing and changing. The songs were sometimes funny, sad and quit even funnier. The funniest song was let it go because when Simba got put up into the air the song kept saying let it go! Some people laughed but some people were a little sad.

Anyway that was the end of the immersion assemble. I hope you enjoyed reading about the immersion assembly.

Immersion assembly ( 1st day)

Now that’s thinking!! Excitingly coming to school I walk into the breeze and waited for my friends. Then I saw 2 of my friends (Eden and Levonah) we hugged and said what we’ve been up to in the holidays. Once we hugged we went looking for our other two friends (Pisi and Chance).

Anyways we realised we should have hid from our friends so it would be a surprise. So we went into Miss King’s class to say hi. Then we saw Chance so we went behind the whiteboard to hide, but unfortunately she FOUND US!! All we needed to do was to hide from Pisi but she was walking around the school just like us and she  spotted us is well (no!!!). So we walked around the school and finally the bell rang so we ran to class and got ready to go to immersion assembly.

Immersion assembly is when a beginning of a term is coming, also when we get to see what we will be learning about for the brand new term!! We also watch a little film that our team teachers made in the holidays. They make a movie about what we will be learning about for the rest of the term.

For this TERM which is term 2 we are going to be learning about, how technology has changed in the past and how it has changed from now. This term is going to be really FUN!!!
