No Fangs Vocabulary



Walt: Use the text to understand` new

Task Description:

In this task we read a book called No Fangs. As you can see above that there are some different words that you may not hear often. We had to explain what the words above meant. Then we had to write a sentence using those words. Once we've done all of those steps we posted it on our blog with a WALT, Task Description, labels and a title.

Madeline the vampire



Walt: understand the text from the perspectives of the characters


Task description:

In this presentation I had to explain some of my thinking on the book I read. To do this task you had to read the book first to understand the questions. The share your thinking on each slide. This book that I read is about a vampire and a human friend going to the carnival. The human friends (Lydia) brother (Zac) judged the vampire (Madeline) and it hurt Madeline feeling on the inside but on the outside Madeline showed no feelings at all.

In this presentation room 7 had to answer some questions using ratios. We also used division and multiplication. When saying simplified answer it means to make a number less complicated and more simple.

In this presentation we had to figure out what multiples did get invited to the party and the multiples that didn't get invited to the part. There are two boxes, one is pink and the other is green. The right multiples that have been invited goes into the green box. The multiples that didn't get invited to the party goes into the pink box.

(Recount) Rubbish Clean Up

Walt: structure a recount


Today we did something fun that includes rubbish! I know it might sound weird but, it’s true. Have you
ever done anything fun that includes rubbish?


Mr Goodwin talked to us about what we were doing, then we set off outside to get in two lines. We
walked to the corridor and waited outside for Mr Goodwin to get a few things. Once he came back we
walked past the top field, across the bottom field, and onto the school reserve. When we reached our
destination Mr Goodwin told us to get into a group of five. It took us a while but, When we finally got into
our groups he gave us a rubbish bag. I was thinking “no, were going to have to pick up rubbish i’m going
to get so dirty and wet” but then I remembered our world is getting polluted a lot, and so we were doing
this for a good cause. By the time we reached the reserve my shoes were already soaking wet!


Mr Goodwin told room seven that we had to pick up as much rubbish as we could find. Mr Goodwin
also told us some strict rules, like how we had boundaries, and that there would be disqualification. He
also said who ever has the most rubbish will get to play Ten minutes of Cool Math Games! So it was
a competition. There were three rounds, the first round of course was at the school reserve. “Three, two,
one! Off you go” said Mr Goodwin the whole class went shooting off to find rubbish. I couldn't even hear
my group because there was to many people shouting. Once Mr Goodwin blew his whistle we all came
running back.

It was time for the last round. We found much more rubbish than what we found in round one and two,
but our rubbish bag was still looking a bit empty. Mr Goodwin blew his whistle again, he yelled and said
“get into five lines.” Miss Haare was the judge of which bag was looking the fullest, and which bag had
the most rubbish in it. Our bag was looking a bit empty and so I thought we had no chance of winning.
Miss Haare picked up the first bag, then the second, until she got up to our rubbish bag. Miss Haare said
it was looking pretty good so I don’t know if it was me worrying about it to much.You probably already
know what happened, yes we did not win and so we didn’t get to play Cool Math Games.

Overall I think this experience was very fun. Although we didn’t win and our shoes got soaking wet, We
all knew that it was for a good cause. I hope we get to do more things like this some other time. Now
you know what we did, are you going to do the same to help our planet?

Task Description:

In this task we had to write a recount. For those of you who don't know what a recount is well, it's pretty
much telling someone about something you did. We had to use interesting word. We also had to check if
our spelling/vocabulary were correct. Then once we finished we had to publish it on our blog with
labels, title, Walt, and task description.

In this task we had to figure out these problems. The problems all included times/x and division/÷. In each slide Mr Goodwin put a triangle with 3 lines. In each triangle there would be 3 number in the 3 lines. for example 9, 4, 32. We had to  write what 9x9 equals. We also had to write what 81÷9 equal.

Task description:

In this task we had to create a exercise timetable for the whole week. We had to put in minutes that added up to at least 1 hour. After finishing our timetable we had to add up the amount of exercise we have done for the whole week.

Task Description:

In this presentation we had think of what two people are saying together which is called dialogue. There are three setting they are, in a classroom, at a basket ball court and at a ice cream stand. In each stand you will have to describe the scene of your dialogue. My favorite scene had to be at the basketball court because I used more feeling in both characters.

Task Description:

In this task we have to make a poster. we have to add fact about why exercise is wise. You also had to tell a bit about your self. Underneath why exercise is wise and about your self you had to tell, a way I like to keep fit, A way I like to build strength and a way I like to stay flexible.

Immersion assembly


Walt: using exciting language.

Today was the first day back to school. This is going to be the 3rd term of the year, this terms topic is
Move ya’ body! What do you think our topic is about?


Our school theme is about fitness, and keeping active. Fitness means doing exercise, and working out.
Our school theme is also about keeping healthy. Which means making sure we are eating the right foods
and keeping hydrated which mean drinking lots of water.


Teams 4 topic is about making exercise and fitness FUN. Teams 4 movie was a bit silly. Teams 4
teachers talked about creating a game by, using our mind and creativity. Teams 4 teachers made a
game which was called spoon hokey, they put the end of a spoon in their mouth and hit a dodge ball with
the top of the spoon.


I want to learn about how we could make fitness safe for people. Like people who needs medical help,
not just safe but fun too.  I want people to enjoy themselves as they exercise. It might be a little hard to
think about but it is going to be worth it, because it is going to help people's health.

I think this term is going to be very fun, but also very exhausting. We should be doing lots of exercise to
keep us fit. Doing exercise keeps me busy and so I have hardly anything to do.

Back To School

So as you know it has been the school holiday and it's that time of the holidays where we have to go back to school! I loved the holiday and i'll be honest I don't really want to go back, But I know I have to because how are us kids suppose to learn? I am really EXCITED to have another term of ambassador presenting! and also EXCITED to see my friends! We also get a new topic for the term and I am very excited to see what it is! See you all on MONDAY!!

CLEANING THE WHOLE HOUSE!!

Before we go to our grandmother's house my family are going to be cleaning the whole house. My task is to clean my room and my mum and dad's room.  My brother's task is to clean his room, and the bathroom. My sister's task is to clean her room and my little sister's room. My dad's task is to clean the outside of the house. My mum's task is to clean the sitting room and the dinning room/kitchen. I have just done my whole room and I just decided to blog about what is going to be happening today. Once we get to our grandmother's house we get to relax and do NO CLEANING, but we do have to help look after our little sisters. All of my sister's including me are going to our grandmother's house strait after we clean the house!! SEE YOU SOON!!

Good bye FANS!

So it's the last day of the term and I just wanted to say that it has been a wonderful second term of 2018! I have had lots of fun with Mr Goodwin, Miss Parent and Miss Szymanik. Stay in touch on my blog because I may be doing some holiday blogging this holiday. I hope you all have enjoyed reading all my blog posts and what I have done this term. My Favorite highlight was probably hanging out with all my friends. We had lots of fun talking, playing around and all other things. Reasearch:Birds




This is my research about bird. What I reached about is about bird migrations pattern. We got split into groups of 4 or 3 and got to pick what we wanted to learn about. I chose birds because there are different types and species of bird and I wanted to learn more about them. The people in my group are: Zaeeda and Eva. We all did lots of reaching and had lots of fun together.

Term 2 Reflection.

In Term 2 yr 5&6 extension got to do all crazy things. We did the 40 hour famine, went to the Auckland museum and did our first 2018 Paideia seminar. I had lots of fun doing the 40 hour famine because I had a great time hanging out with my friends. I loved going to the Auckland museum because I loved seeing all the culture items there. I also loved going to different exhibitions. In the Paideia seminar I had lots of fun, I loved expressing my confidence. I think I was way more confident this year and I think I have improved a lot from last year. One of my favorite highlight was actually doing the 40 hour famine. A lot of people turned up and got to help South Sudan. I raised $150 the most money I've ever raised. I have done a lot of research on how a bird flies I have also completed my Talanoa DLO. I had lots of fun this term

Walt: Find how much money Mr Goodwin spent in NZD


Task Description: In this presentation Room 7 had to figure out how much money Mr Goodwin spent in NZD. What I did, was I halved the amount that was spent, then I added that to the amount that was spent. Once I Add the two numbers together then the answer I get is how much NZD that Mr Goodwin spent on thing in Chicago.

The Disaster pizza

Walt:Write a story using interesting beginnings.

Mr Goodwin sat down to order his first Deep Dish Pizza. Only the chef had something different in mind
for Mr Goodwin’s pizza. Instead of the usual ingredients like cheese, tomato, and ham. The Chef instead
used most of the spiciest chilies. First was ghost peppers, next was jalapenos and lastly was Tabasco sauce.
Once the chef finished making Mr Goodwin's special pizza he went out of the kitchen and gave Mr
Goodwin his pizza.While handing his pizza the chef said “why don’t you have a try” Mr Goodwin’s face
turned bright red he felt like something went wrong but he didn’t want to be rude so he took his first bite
and his face turned dark red!!He panicked “I need water, I need water!”


As Mr Goodwin went on and on and on he finally stopped and said “What did you put in my pizza?” The
chef answers It was a surprise check the bottom of your pizza box. On the bottom of Mr Goodwin's pizza
box it said “I used ghost peppers, jalapenos and Tabasco sauce as you base” Mr Goodwin got mad and
said “I am never going to buy pizza from this store again I’m not even going to pay you but I am going to
take this pizza and prank some of my roommates” He said with a grin on his face “maybe Mr Jacobsen”
He didn’t want to prank Mr Burt because Mr Goodwin was scared that he would lose his job. Mr Goodwin
left dramatically without paying. He drove to his hotel and started to search for Mr Jacobsen. At last he
found Mr Jacobsen, but before Mr Goodwin told Mr Jacobsen take a bit he told Mr Burt about the prank,
Mr Burt was on board and wanted to prank Mr Jacobsen too.


They both went to Mr Jacobsen and talked for a bit, then Mr Jacobsen took his first bite. But he knew
something was coming so he tore off a piece really fast and he pretended that it wasn’t really spicy. Mr
Goodwin and Mr Burt were confused at first but then they said "let me see your pizza," then He gave his
pizza to Mr Goodwin, but Mr Burt and Mr Goodwin were even more confused. A while after Mr Goodwin
took another bite and his face turned dark red again. He screamed and then went to get milk, a while after
Mr Jacobsen laughed. Minutes later he got over himself and said “H...O….W is that not spicy. Mr Jacobsen laughed again and said “I didn’t even take a bite” as he went on and on. Finally Mr Goodwin learnt his lesson to never prank a teacher again. Although his mouth is still burning from all that spice.

Task Description:

In this piece of writing I have written a story about a Deep Dish Pizza. Room 7 had to use descriptive language and we also had to use interesting words. We had to write about Mr Goodwin in Chicago. Mr Goodwin gave us a beginning and room 7 got to chose a starter to start writing.

Is It to Big?

Walt: Find the perimeter of a sandwich

Task Description:
In this presentation room 7 had to find the perimeter of a sandwich. Room 7 also had to see if some of our teachers had to get a new sandwich bag to fit their sandwich in their bag. To do that we had to add up the perimeter of the sandwich.

Game Spab

Walt: Review A game and write a description.

The game Spab  is a game on Cool Math Game, to win you would have to think critically about your
strategy. There are letters from you keyboard involved to get up on to high places. Also the arrows from
your keyboard help you to move,  If you fall off the platform you have to restart the level. I liked that I had
to think carefully about each moved I made.

How I could improve on the game Spab is to look at the keys that I am using. Sometimes I fell off the
platform because I was pushing the wrong keys and so I had to restart the level.  

I would definitely recommend this game because it is loads of fun and it helps you to think really hard of
what moves you make. The one thing they should be able to improve on is to make sure each time you
carry on with Spab you carry on with the same level.


Task Description:

In this task we got to play a game that we have never played before. We could only use the games
on Cool math games.com. once we finished playing that game we had to review that game and said,
what you liked about that game, what they could improve on and why/why not you would recommend
that game.

Fun Writing

Walt:Write a fun piece of writing.

There we were getting ready to line up for assembly. Minutes later we walked into the the hall and sat down. Suddenly Mr Burt appeared and talked about the new korero for this week. This week Mr Somerville had the korero ready for the whole school to see. The korero was about Being sensible in the right time. Mr Somerville had an act to show. Seconds later he sat down on the stage stair with a microphone near him. All you could hear while sitting down was silence, until all the students laugh, and laugh, and laugh till they all run out of breath. Mr Somerville shouts at the top of his lungs, “WHO DONE THIS!!!” He says. All the students stop laughing and see that someone has put a whoopee cushion under his seat! They all laugh again and again and again. Nobody knows who put that whoopee cushion on the stage stair, and this case will be forever unsolved. TO BE CONTINUED…….


Task description:

In this task we had to write a fun piece fun writing. Each student from room 7 reading got to complete a form. We had to include our names, a character, a problem and a setting. Once we completed that form Mr Goodwin would get a email and will pick a topic for his students.

Mario Writing

        


The person who created Mario was Shigeru Miyamoto. Mario was first in the game donkey
Kong, He was one of the villains. Mario's first name was called jump man he got his other name
from getting named after their landlord Mario segale. Mario has appeared in 28 titles and Super
Mario bros sold more than 40 million copies. Mario was first a carpenter (a person who makes
and repairs wooden objects and structures). When he appeared again in Mario Bros it was
decided that he should have been a plumber because a lot of the game is played in underground
settings.

Super Mario bros first came out in 13 September 1985. Mario's main antagonist is king koopa
(browser). In one game called super Mario RPG-(legend of the seven stars.) Koji Kondo is a musician.
He created the song ground Theme song, Mario first appeared in the Guinness book of records. Guinness
books of records is known from its inception in 1955 until 2000 as The Guinness Book of Records and in
previous United States editions as The Guinness Book of World Records, is a reference book.

Task Description:

In this task I had to describe what a bat is. I also had to explain how a bat flies. I found that a bat is similar to a flying squirrel. This task is also a poster that explains a lot of facts.

Task Description: In this presentation we had to design the area of a shape on some slides it had to be a specific number E.g:  one of the areas has to be 80 m. On some slides it also has to be a specific shape E.g One of the shapes can't be a rectangular shape.
