Making bread

Bush walk

It was time for sunrise, as you could see the sun from over the hill near Susy’s house. It was a sunny saturday morning as Susy was waking up from her good night sleep. Susy’s mother was at work but Susy’s dad was still home. Susy is a very kind girl, Susy uses her manners and looks after people who are hurt, but Susy had no sibling.

That day Susy saw her friends playing just across the road from her house. Susy shouted “Sophie, Sammy, Vinesa”  there was no reply Susy wordnerd maybe they can't hear me. So she went inside and told her dad if she could walk across the road to play with her friend. Susy’s dad answered yeah just look out for car so Susy took off.

Susy said to her friend let's go for a walk to the park. So Susy and her friends went to the park. While walking Susy saw some girls playing netball. Susy also played netball, she got most of the goals for her team so Susy  wanted to challenge them.

Susys and her friends ask if they want a challenge the they said “yeah sure but you're sort on players”  Susy didn't know what to do. But she wonder if they will be here tomorrow because she wanted to get more people by the time we played. But I wonder what would have happened that next day.

The Day Of The Explosion

There's a Scientist in America named Michael. He tried to build a machine that was useful for helping, cooking and for entertaining people. Once he started to build he thought that his robotic machine might explode, so he put down his things, and searched for safety gear like safety goggles and a lab coat. He went back to the lab, he grabbed the things that he needed and went off to the table to get started.

Michael’s invention was going to be a big help to the world. But suddenly everything went horribly wrong and was a disaster. His machine exploded the whole lab and killed the power, the pieces fell straight off. Michael was so upset, he couldn't stop thinking of what he had done wrong.

He said to himself “Maybe I built my machine with the wrong things. Maybe I had the wrong tools whatever it was I will try my best next time”

Ben Johnson Story

                                                       Ben Johnson.jpg

In 1988 Ben Johnson was in the Seoul Olympics with Carl  lewis.  Ben and Carl were racing in the 100 metre final.  All eyes from the audience were only on Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis.

As soon as the gun went off Ben and Carl took off. Ben was in the lead at 50 meters and set a new world record.  But as soon as he crossed the finish line scientist took a sample of Ben to see if he had done anything wrong.

When Ben won the gold medal he felt guilty because he took drugs. Ben Johnson got his gold medal taken off him and got banned to race in the Olympics ever again.  And he was so upset, I even think he would of regretted that time he raced.

A long time ago there was a battle in Marathon, Marathon is a city in Greece. The Greeks were fighting the Persians. The battle was over and with great joy the Greeks defeated the Persians.

Pheidippides commander told him to run all the way back to Athens and tell our people that we won. Under the beating sun, Pheidippides was dehydrated and exhausted. Pheidippides never gave up. Pheidippides kept running until he got to Athens.

Arriving at Athens Pheidippides shouts “Joy, we won!”  Pheidippides was so exhausted and dehydrated that he collapsed and died.  We remember Pheidippides by doing a Marathon in the Olympics where people run for 42.2 km.

The Olympic Flame

The ancient Greeks started the tradition of having an Olympic flame in Olympia. A sacred flame is lit by the sun's rays and stays. alight until the games have ended. The flame symbolized a request for protection from Zeus and the athletes’ struggles for victory.

The modern flame symbolizes the light of the spirit, knowledge and life. To this day, the torch is still lit in Olympia. in Greece then carried by a relay team, passing runner to runner until it reaches the host-city of the games. There, the cauldron will be lit and stay alight until the Closing ceremony.

The Ancient Olympics

The Olympics began over two and a half thousand years ago in ancient Greece. In those days Greece was made up of several different states including Athens, Sparta, and Corinth and they were often at war with each other but when the games were on the held a truce.

This great event was held at a place called Olympia and this is why the games are called the Olympics they were held once every four years in honor of Zeus lord of all the Gods. Eventually the ancient Olympic were abolished by the roman emperor Theodosus the first who was a Christian and didn’t like the games because they were dedicated to a pagan God but the Olympics were always remembered as a symbol of human achievement and peace.

6 Thinking Hats

How I feel about my artwork or the whole process.

Creating my artwork I felt really proud because when I got home I told my mum and dad all about my painting and they were really proud of me. I’m  also proud because it took us all four weeks to get our painting’s finished and perfect and that's what I did.
What did I enjoy most of all or what was the best thing about my painting.
I loved painting the most because I got to see all of the lovely neon paint on my picture. I also got to switch colours when I was finished with the first two colours that I used.
What did I find hard or I didn’t like.
The hardest thing was when I saw something little I tried to paint inside but I kept going out of the lines. I also tried not to miss any spots on my picture to paint.
How can I do my art better next time?
Next time I could look back at my painting and think about all of the detail and draw that the next time. I also could do different building instead of the same buildings over and over again.
What was the most interesting thing I did or my friends did.
The class used paint but Eden used dye because her detail was to little. Eden’s picture was still beautiful and it turned out to be really colourful. also everyone's painting was beautiful too.
What did I learn most about?
I learnt how to be patient when the paint  wasn’t free for me to use. Also I learnt how to achieve and participate anywhere you go and in anything you do.

Te Tuhi

First thing in the morning we split in two group and we were off on an adventure in the pouring rain. We were going to Te Tuhi. When we got there we saw heaps of new invented structures that we haven't seen before.

The pavilion had to listen really carefully to Jeremy. We put our bags in a tray and were off. First we walked past a little daycare, second we walked past an art class, at last we were at our art space.

We were making dream houses made with three shapes. The shapes were equilateral triangles, isosceles triangles and squares. After that we out lined our dream houses with a black vivid.

Soon after we finished outlining our dream houses we drew some super cool things inside some shapes. After making our dream houses we went into this dark room and watched a screen where it showed some flower pots that were inside the dark room. Afterwards we went into another dark room with another screen.

With excitement the half pavilion walked into this the dark room and saw people that were making metal things. When it was over we went and said thank-you to Jeremy and we went back on the bus and went back to school and had our morning tea.

Fia Fia

When the kapa haka group was just about to walk on the stage I had butterflies in my stomach. I felt so nervous, when we started to sing I got caught up in the moment and I was confident that second.

While waiting on the cold hard ground I could hear the thumping music while watching the rock band. I kept vibrating when the rock band made a sound. The noise swept my group and me away with a magical swish. When the Samoan  group went up on the stage I saw some of my classmates, I was cheering and clapping till there performance was finished.

The Colosseum

The Colosseum was built 70 years after Jesus was born, now the Colosseum is 2000 years old. The Colosseum is a very ancient amphitheater in Rome Italy. Inside, the Colosseum had seating for more than 50,000 spectators.

The Colosseum has bits and pieces that have broken down because Rome Italy had an earthquake. In Rome there is about like 3.9 visitor to see the Colosseum. From  2000 years ago the Colosseum is still standing.

Dust Mite

I learnt how to get  dust mites out of my house, dust mites are 0.3 miller meters long, they hide in your bed room and in you soft toys, they have  8 legs, they aren't insects, the first time person who saw a dust mites was antoni van Leeuwenhoek and he invented a microscope.

One morning Tamarereti was feeling hungry so he went fishing. Tamarereti got three large fish and decided to go back home but he noticed that the wind had died down so there was no way to get back to land. Tamarereti thought there was enough time to have a nap for the wind return, so he a little nap.

The wind pushed Tamarereti and the waka all the way to the other side of the lake. When Tamarereti woke up it was getting dark he knew that he was is big trouble. Tamarereti’s  tummy was still grumbling so he cooked himself some fish. Tamarereti  was thinking how to get back to land without getting eaten by the taniwha.

While Tamarereti was eating his fish he found shining pebbles and threw as many pebbles inside his waka. Tamarereti pushed his waka in the lake and threw the shining pebbles into the sky so he wouldn't get eaten by the taniwha. Tamarereti’s plan had worked and he got to the land safely.

After Tamarereti’s long day he fell straight to sleep. When Tamarereti woke up he had a visitor, it was Ranginui. Tamarereti thought that he was in big  trouble for messing up Ranginui's dark sky he knew he was going to be punished for good but instead Ranginui said “Thank-you Tamarereti you have made the land and our people much safer.”

My Geometry Garden

In my garden my flowers have…
Rotational symmetry

This means that…
It’s in order and can rotate 8 times or more, also it looks the same on each pedal.

In my garden my butterfly has…
Reflective symmetry

This means that...
It looks the same on each side.

In my garden my pathway shows…

To make my pathway I…
Need to tessellate my hexagons or other shapes.  I used translation to move my hexagons.

This means that…
I need to fill in all the gaps.  The shapes are all the same.

Do You Want To Do Some Bombs

Jumping into the sky, the boy splashed into the cool lake. While jumping the boy screamed!!! God looked down and wondered where the boy was. the boy was already running up but with up with a big smile on his face.

On the top of the cliff the boy was lying down on a rock and looking at the sky. He thought that the man next to him must be pretending to be God.

Powerfully God did a massive bomb, all of the rocky mountains were rumbling loudly. God flew up in the air and landed back on the cliff. As god landed the boy shouted  “you are God”.

Flag writing

we should change the flag because people might think that we are Australia. Also we are not apart of the british culture, the England culture, the Irish culture and the Scottish culture. The old flag has the union jack which represents the british empire that is why I want to change the flag.

On the new flag there is the silver fern which has been apart of our history and identity for many years and is an internationally recognized as a symbol of new zealand. The silver fern represents the silver fern which is a netball team the all blacks which is a rugby team and the black caps which is a cricket team. The blue represents the clear skies and the pacific ocean. The black has become recognized as a national color and  is associated with our many achievements internationally

Roller Coaster

I’ve never been more terrified, than when stood looking up at the monstrosity. But I bravely stepped forward. Until today I had never been so scared for my life.

Listening to the screaming from the people in front of me, turned my stomach. “There are butterflies in my tummy’’ I said quietly.  It seemed like the line went on forever, I wanted to get this over with.

Closing my eyes, I wished over and over again that the ride would soon end. Would we make it alive? Roaring and soaring through the sky we tumbled and twisted.

On a nice and hot day a group of friends went to the playground by the scary forest to play volleyball. They set the game up and played. A girl who’s name was Lizzy was the leader and hit the ball hard that it went into the scary forest. Lizzy went to fetch the ball and turned out to be lost. She felt scared.

When she new that she was lost Lizzy sat down and she fell. Lizzy was in quicksand. Lizzy thought. There was a branch up a head of her so she thought if she can grab on to the branch she might get out of the quicksand. So she try and she got out of the quicksand.

Lizzy realised that she had a phone in her pocket so she grabbed it and looked how much her phone was charged and it was only ten percent so she quickly called her mum to go find her at the scary forest and she did. Lizzy felt happy.
