Tamarereti

One morning Tamarereti was feeling hungry so he went fishing. Tamarereti got three large fish and decided to go back home but he noticed that the wind had died down so there was no way to get back to land. Tamarereti thought there was enough time to have a nap for the wind return, so he a little nap.

The wind pushed Tamarereti and the waka all the way to the other side of the lake. When Tamarereti woke up it was getting dark he knew that he was is big trouble. Tamarereti’s  tummy was still grumbling so he cooked himself some fish. Tamarereti  was thinking how to get back to land without getting eaten by the taniwha.

While Tamarereti was eating his fish he found shining pebbles and threw as many pebbles inside his waka. Tamarereti pushed his waka in the lake and threw the shining pebbles into the sky so he wouldn't get eaten by the taniwha. Tamarereti’s plan had worked and he got to the land safely.

After Tamarereti’s long day he fell straight to sleep. When Tamarereti woke up he had a visitor, it was Ranginui. Tamarereti thought that he was in big  trouble for messing up Ranginui's dark sky he knew he was going to be punished for good but instead Ranginui said “Thank-you Tamarereti you have made the land and our people much safer.”
