Day 13 Activity 2 (WOMAD)

I have been asked to imagine I was part of the WOMAD organising committee for next year. Which two musicians/bands would I invite to perform? I would invite Meghan Trainor and Stan Walker.

I would invite Stan Walker because I love his song also because when I hear his song the songs get stuck in my head including AEOTEAROA! Stan Walker was born in  Melbourne, Australia, Stan Walker is a pop and R&B singer.

I have also chosen Meghan Trainor because not only I like her songs but my little sisters Genevieve and Faith love her songs too, they both dance to www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDRORgoZxZU (me too). Meghan Trainor was born in Nantucket, Massachusetts, United States, she sings pop and  R&B just like Stan Walker.

  1. Good morning Jahzara,

I really like the two artists that you have chosen for the WOMAD activity. Both are really entertaining and very talented! Stan Walker's recent version of Aotearoa is stunning. The kapa haka group at my son's school performed a version of Aotearoa at their school leaver's assembly in December and it brought a number of us to tears. It was so good!

Aronui has been singing Aotearoa every day since he heard it at the assembly. Coincidentally, he also loves to sing Meghan Trainor songs. His favourite song (at the moment) is 'Better When I'm Dancin.' He absolutely loves it and often sings away to it while dancing through the house. Last night he was dancing so much that he scared our cat, Jackson! Jackson was hanging out with us in the kitchen when Aronui burst through the door singing and dancing and Jackson took off and hid under the table. Poor cat!

Do you ever sing and dance to Stan Walker or Meghan Trainor's music?

    I hope so!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)

  2. Hi Jahzara!

Wow I had no idea who Meghan Trainor was, but then I recognised one of her old songs and it all clicked together. She's been making some pretty good pop for a while now I think. Good on her. Did you know she started making music when she was your age, and wrote her first original song at the age of 12? She made her music using a simple programme on her computer too.

I think it just goes to show that if you have the passion and really dedicate yourself to something, anyone can make it. Thanks for introducing me to the person behind the music!

  3. Happy New Year to you and your whanau Jahzara! I'm so proud of all the hard work you've done over the holidays, you have learned so much and you've worked so hard. Keep up the awesome work.

I love Stan Walker, I always play 'Aotearoa', do you remember singing his song with the class?
