Acid rain!

Day 5: Here to stay
Activity 3: Let it rain
Let’s imagine that New Zealand was hit by a massive acid rain storm. Acidic rain fell for
three days and three nights. When the rain fell, you stayed inside with your friends and
family. When it stopped, however, you and your family decided to go for a walk outside.
You opened the door and...

On your blog, write a short story about what happened when you opened the door and
walked outside after the acid rain storm. To earn full points, you must write a story that is
8 – 10 sentences long.

“Mum i’m scared” rapidly said Gene and Faith. “I know it’ll be over soon, don’t worry” replied
mum. Eva quietly said “Shhhhhhh, listen…., it's stopped!”

After three scary night’s, the acid rain has finally stopped! “Can we go outside, can we, can
we?” Softly said Eva. “Not yet, wait about 30 minutes to see if it had actually cleared off” said
dad. 30 minutes went by and everyone was getting ready, putting jumpers on and warm fluffy
hats! 3, 2, 1! Ajani twists the doorknob and….”oh my goodness” says mum.

They notice all the tree leaves have all disappeared and all the branches have fallen off. All there
was left, a very big, long stick, in the ground. There was hardly any grass and no FLOWERS!
What they all discovered was like no other. There no hardly any people out of there house,
hardly any cars and hardly any….nothing! Their country was in big danger!

“Without our tree’s how will be survive?” Questioned Jahzara “without plants how will we find
food?, without…..!” “okay, okay we get it” said dad. Our animals have passed onto their own
lives now” said Eva. “It’s not fair that they had to leave.” Everyone was all looking up “It’s alright,
well, find a way to get them back, well find a way to get everything back.” said Jahzara

The End

This story is about my family and I stuck in a house for three nights, because of acid rain. Acid
rain is rain with bad chemical in it, so polluted rain. At the end the family find that they need to
get everything back and so they are now planning to do so. This story can relate to our world.
“Our world is getting polluted, others my school, my family and I are doing so much to make sure
this doesn’t happen. Look after our world because sooner or later our world will start to crumble
away, little by little.”

I LOVE your piece of writing of the acid rain. I enjoy the effort you put into this writing. Your detailing is great! I like how you have finished your piece of writing with you or Jahzara saying " We will get everything back. ".

Your doing a fantastic job at summer blogging. Keep up the great work!

    1. Talofa Leilani,

Thank's for the fantastic comment. I know that our world is getting polluted and I didn't want this to actually happen and so I decided to make my story a bit inspirational. I really do hope nothing like this happens don't you think?

      Thanks,
      Jahzara ;)

  2. Kia ora Jahzara,

My name is Susie and I am a member of the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) team. It is great to see that you've been busy with blogging over the past few weeks. I was really impressed by the work you have put into the program because all the activities have been completed to a very high standard. Keep up the awesome blogging!

Towards the end of Week 3, the activities were highly based on the topic 'climate change'. How did you feel as you were completing these activities? I like how you have used dialogue in your story to make it sound more realistic and dramatic. It is awesome to see you making connections with the real world - we are facing environmental issues globally.

What do you think we could do to prevent this from happening? I do not want to imagine the acid rain storm hitting New Zealand one day, YIKES!

I look forward to reading more of your posts,

    Susie

    1. Kia ora Susie,

Thanks for the lovely comment. Well, to be honest, I was really happy doing these activities. The reason why I was super happy to finish off these activities is because in my blog post I can show all my emotion going towards pollution. I could express my feelings too.

One way I can think of preventing this from actually happening is I think that maybe we should put up signs convincing people that pollution isn't good for the environment.

      Thanks,
      Jahzara
