KPMG Trip
Today the year 7 & 8 Extension group and a few other selected students went to visit KPMG. He mea I roto e te wai is our school wide theme for term 3. As we went to KPMG we focused on how to save our environment. We also looked at Maori gods.As we walked into the infinity room we found ourselves a seat as people introduced themselves. After, we had others talk to us about themselves, their career and the environment. They talked about ecosystems, what an ecologist is and what they do. We had a chance to ask questions and talk about our thoughts. We then ate yummy scones! We were able to add extra toppings.
At one point we also visited sustainable coastlines. They taught us different ways our oceans and rivers get polluted. I learnt that one of the ways our oceans and rivers get polluted is from our instruction workers. When instruction workers use diggers (ETC) we found that the mud they put in a pile finds its way to the oceans and rivers. How? Well, when it rains the mud gets watered down, travels through land and ends up in water.
After, we made some type of technology to show to teachers and KPMG helpers. But first, we researched about our Maori gods we were assigned to learn about. Then, we started to create.
Thanks to KPMG for another amazing term!

Orientation Course!
Today the year 7&8 Extension group did an orienteering course, but first we had to learn how to use a compass.
During Extension we were told, we were going to be taught how to use a compass. The time came and Mr Jacobson walked in with a box of compasses. He taught us how to use it and what some of the things on the compass were and what they were used for.
After we got sent off to the course. I was paired up with Eden. Once we got sent off to our orienteering point we decided to start. We looked at the letter then wrote it on our paper. We then looked at the numbers and made our compass face in the direction we thought was right! We walked as our shoes got wet :( We made it to our next destination and did the same thing over and over again, until we cracked the code.
Well done us! We've solved the code!
Have a close look, "Well done us." Ah ha! That's it that was the code we needed to crack. We all had an amazing and fun time thanks to Mr Jacobson for making this possible!

Longitude and Latitude!
Walt: Find the latitude and longitude for the countries given in the presentation.
Task Description:
This week for extension we were told to find the longitude and the latitude of the countries given in the following slides. This was really fun as we got to explore on google earth is well as google maps! I also took some more time and explained what longitude and latitude is in my own words. This did take some time as it took a bit long to find where the longitude and latitude is for some of the countries. Have a look at my work in the following slides!

My favourite games!
This is a blogpost about games.
My favourite games (digital and non-digital) are:

My favourite games (digital and non-digital) are:

- Cluedo
- Monopoly
- 2048
- Speed (Card game)
- Overcooked

The reason/s why I enjoy playing these games are:
- (Cluedo/Monopoly) Is very fun to play/with family. We always like to see who wins or loses.
- Some of these games challenge your mind and also make you confused on which card to play, what your next move is and how fast you play.
- (2048) It is educational, and it determines you by not knowing what move to make next!
- More things to think about (E.G more options to choose from)
- Brian exercise (E.G to think of another way to solve this problem of a game or to find the easiest or the hardest way to solve)
- Add in more fun objects to make sure that the game is not just going towards an educational way but is also educational in a fun way!

2018 reflection (EXT)
This term has been a great term. We got to go to camp Bentzon, hangout with my friends and more. one of my favorite things we did this term was being in extension. We got to use 3D pens and do lots of other fun things.
Term 2 we had an amazing term with lots of amazing facts. We went for a trip to the museum and did our talanoa projects. At the museum we got to see lots of ancient artifacts. We had so much touching and feeling the ancient artifacts. We also had so much fun making our Talanoa DLO's because we got to talk about what we learnt.
Term 3 was all about moving your body and about eating healthy food. We had awesome groups to work with and all got good marks. We also went to Gravity. We went to Gravity because our theme was move your body and so we went somewhere fun and somewhere, where we could get fit.
Today we had a shared lunch, for the year 5 and 6 celebration. We came together and celebrated the work we have done all term. We also did secret Santa. I got Amira but she wasn't here and so I had nothing to give her. The food was amazing and was super yummy. We had lot of doughnuts and lots of yummy chips and drinks. For secret Santa I received a slime kit from Austin. I loved my present and I hope everyone has a great and safe Christmas.

Overall I had a wonderfull year!

Term 2 Animation
Walt: Create a movie including facts about how a plane can fly
Task Description:
In this animation I had to add facts about how an air plane flys and explain the four forces of flight. It took me a while to get some graphics done and detailed but I got it done eventually. The trickiest part of this animation had to be the writing for my voice over because it took me a while to understand the forces of flight and make sure my facts were true. The easiest part of my animation had to be the animating because I've animated lots of animations before and so I have lots of experience using hyperstudio. Hope you enjoy!
Below is my completed rubric for my animation:

Conservationist DLO
Walt: Create a movie about how we can save our animals
Task Description:
This is my extention movie. I was in the conservationist group. We had to create a movie of our own and base it on Eels, ducks birds and more. We had a option, the option was we could do a news report, animation or a documentary. We chose a new report and it was pretty easy. We had lots of ideas and used most of them. We interviewed people and ask them how can we save our wild life animals? and now I am asking all of you out there, How can we save our wild life animals?

3rd Semminar
On Tuesday the year 5 & 6 extension had there 3rd paideia seminar. The topic was, is being civilised such a good thing? I think it is okay to be civilised because civilised means to be good mannered. I think I did a better job in this seminar that the old seminar because I agreed and piggy backed off other ideas. I think I could talk more and have more confidence in myself.

Rubric reflection
Hmmm is my Score what I expected? My rubric score for term 2 was very amazing. I worked very hard and I didn’t get what I expected. I thought my score would be a little bit lower that I thought, but I was wrong. You might be asking why my rubric score was amazing? Well on our planning/research we worked very hard as a group and we all did our very best to research about costumes, makeup and hair. We almost got a perfect score but I think we could have pushed our group just a little more. On the forum/Panel Discussion I was so amazed because I was the only one who contributed more than my other group members. Last term I was below them and now i’m higher, if I just push myself a little more I can become louder and maybe I won’t be as shy as last time.
In the next seminar my goal would keep sharing my thoughts and my work to others and to piggyback off others.

Seminar
On Thursday the 27th of July year 5 & 6 had a seminar about different perspectives like children, school, culture, news reporters and more. We had to get into 2 or 3 groups. My buddy was my friend Pisirina. Our perspective that we talked about was school. “Get ready and start writing we don’t have much time” said Mrs lagitupu, the class answered “yes Mrs lagitupu” and started writing I did not write much but that’s because I already knew what I was going to say. Whenever it comes close to seminars we panic we don’t know what we are going to say but this term I felt more confident I knew what I was going to say and I wasn’t shy to talk.
The time has come, the seminar has started. Then we started blabbering about what we have learnt. First off as I was not hoping is the school group which was my group why am I always first!! Anyways we talked and talked until someone changed the topic. Then someone else talked and talked and talked and it went all over again until it was over.
I think I can do better next time I think I could do better because I have to talk more and get more confidence so I won't be the only one left out. Next time my goal is to encourage people to talk more.
