On your blog, tell us what they think about Countdown’s decision to stop using plastic
bags

Of course I agree with Countdown’s decision because, they are also referring to saving
the environment. They know that plastic bags are are harmful to the environment and to sea
creatures. Like I said in a blog post before, most turtles favorite foods are jellyfish.

When plastic bags are in the water, it looks like a jelly fish floating to the top! Of course
the turtles would think it is jelly fish and so they would want a bite. Once the turtles
swallow the plastic bag it’ll start to choke and slowly pass.

As Countdown have stopped using plastic bags they have made reusable bags that you
can take home and bring back to use at Countdown once again. Some people may not
like this idea and will sometimes go against it, I say “put a stop to pollution, that means
no more plastic bags!” "Save our environment!"

You know what it was like back in the day, right? Well, do you know enough about sailing? Sailing is one of the known hobbies that you would find Maori doing. So this is what I will be talking about. Did you know when Maori arrived in Aotearoa, they only had materials that would keep them alive. One of the common materials that Maori and Islanders use is wood. Wood is very useful, if making a boat it would be possible for water to stay out of the boat if using wood. You must be thinking how sailing has changed over time? Well now our boats are faster because they have engines. Back then they only had oars and waka. A waka is a wooden boat. It uses wind to get through water and also uses oars.

We researched what types of pollution there are and what kinds of pollution would make us children sick.

6 is what we should not help because its not a big of a deal
 but 1 would be something that we would have to fix.

Narrative Writing About The Environment

Ten years ago the world was always clean, but ten years after someone was polluting the earth and wasn’t looking after our environment. One day that person went over to the omaru creek and polluted the creek with detergent, paint and oil. Whenever she went somewhere everyone tried to catch her and her name, but only one person knew her name. It was her sister and the person who always pollutes is Lindy. The sisters name was Linzy and all this time Linzy keep Lindy's name a secret.

Sometime around the afternoon one day Lindy went to pollute the creek. While she was polluting the creek she heard a voice. That voice said “hey you look down” so Lindy looked down and saw a talking fish named kendal. The fish said “you better stop polluting this creek your killing all the fish” Lindy didn’t listen, but kendal was still talking he said that “you will regret this one day” but Lindy was too busy polluting.

Linzy came around and saw all the fish dead she said “this has gone too far” so she went home and had a little chat with her sister. Linzy said please stop polluting the creeks, Lindy said “why”  her sister replied “because you killing all the fish, how would you feel if we didn’t have any food to eat but the fish that you killed” Lindy also replied “you're right I should stop” so she stopped polluting.

The next day the world was happy and clean. Linzy was so happy for Lindy to give up polluting. It felt good to be in a happy clean world.

Voice Over For Maui and the giant fish.

This is a story about Maui and the giant fish. Maui wanted to get some fish to eat so he went out to sea and looked for the perfect spot to fish. Once he found his spot he threw his hook while holding onto the rope in the water. He waited and waited until he felt the hook pulling him so he pulled and pulled, capturing a giant fish which turned into New Zealand. It links because if we didn’t have enough food we  would have to share the food out equally. If we didn’t have enough food to eat we would probably get really sick. If we also didn’t look after our plants the plants would die and we wouldn't be alive.

Dear Mr Burt,

This term room 10 have been learning about native trees/bush. We have been wanting to plant some native trees or bushes. I have been wondering if we could plant some harakeke and the pohutukawa tree. We have some growing on the reserve and would want some on our school grounds. I want to plant the harakeke bush because I want   to learn to weave. Also  the harakeke bush grows really well in gardens and wet places including near the creek. The pohutukawa tree is beautiful and is one of the most famous trees in NZ. The pohutukawa tree will grow well in well drained soil. I think we need to build a water system  so the soil  has lots of water and will help the pohutukawa tree grow well.

We would want to do this at the end of term 1.

Pt England Setting

When I got outside I could hear cold breeze flowing past my ear and the birds chirping. I smell the beautiful fresh air. I could see the trees waving crazy from the wind.  I could feel the the crunchy yellow and green grass. I can always taste the tiny rain drop dropping down from the sky. I did not know that Pt England is not an ecosanctuary.
