Task Description:

In this presentation we had the opportunity to talk about New Zealand's protesting over the past 150 years. We read a story called 'Stand up.' It talked about the different protests that happened over time in New Zealand and why. We mainly focused on 'The Parihaka Protest" & 'The Women's Suffrage Protest.' We talked about what the cause of the protesting were and answered in our own words in the following slides. We looked closely at why it was important to protest. We were also given the task to  do some more research on one of the other protests in the story.

I'm actually proud of myself with this task because, I don't take much time to read the story properly and I don't take time to understand what the story is telling me. Today was different as I took my time and processed what the story is about. I was able to understand what it was telling me and I very much enjoyed learning about something new!

My Family Tree :D

My mum's parents & Grandparents are full Maori. Her parents grew up with lots of siblings, compared to my mum and her sister. Our grandmother enjoy's taking us out to places with our cousins. Places like the movies, shops and out for walks! Our grandfather enjoys taking us out to places like the pools and playgrounds :) Ajani, Eva and I have been lucky enough to have met our mum's grandmother's when we were younger. Our great grandmothers :D

My dad is Tongan/British! I didn't find this out until, well, to be honest. I only found this out today! We weren't able to meet our great grandfather's and our great grandmother but we were able to meet our great grandmother Fehoko back in Tonga when we were younger. My papa & nana live just around the corner from our house. We usually visit a lot but now that we're in isolation we don't visit as much. We usually go out shopping and out to the park with our cousins. My nana and papa also have a whole lot of siblings compared to my dad and aunty.

Well, yeah! I grew up with 4 siblings. They can be a bit annoying but we're still family :D I'm still shocked that we're part British and that I just found out today!

DNA poster! :)

In this poster it explains how life is made. DNA is formed into RNA. Then RNA forms into Proteins and lastly, Proteins are formed into Life. Living things are all apart of DNA, RNA and Proteins. 

Say "Hello To School!"

Well it's coming to a end of the school holidays! I had an amazing time hanging out with my family and talking to my friends! I did lots of fun things, like going to the movies and getting to hang out with my grandparents and cousins! I had such a blast, talking to my friends was very fun as we talked about our holidays. The school holidays end today as school starts tomorrow.

What do I hope for term 2?

Well, it really depends on what is going to happen in term 2. Although I do really hope we go on a senior school trip. I also hope that we get to do new things in term 2! Things that some of us have never done before!

I know that the 40 hour famine is going to be happening in term 2 and I have already received my sponsor book! I have also already raised some money too! Netball will also be happening in term 2. Our team this year is Pacific Generation! That name represents all the girls in the team. We are all Pacific and we want to show that in pride! My mum is coaching us this year and Miss King and Gigi will be managing our team!

I hope I have a blast in term 2 with all my friends, teachers and family!

Day 4: Like a scene out of a movie.

Activity 2: the seven sisters

Task: On your blog, write a short summary of the book. What was it about? Try to

summarise the story in 6-8 sentences

There once was a young man, who’s name is Mitai. Mitai lived with all seven brothers of
his in a village called, Maketu. Mitai was the youngest brother of his family. He was raised
by his kororua Tohunga Te Raiwhare which taught Mitai magic. Mitai could form into a bird and 
eavesdrop on his brothers conversations.

One day Mitai and his brothers went hunting on, pukemaire hill. Mitai and his brothers

came across the most beautiful singing that they've ever heard, they were despite to find 

out who was singing and where the singing was coming from. The brothers went off and 

found who the voice belonged to, it was a wahine (girl). As soon as they looked at the wahine

they all fell in love just in a snap of a finger. Well, all except Mitai. The brothers decided to 

bring the wahine back to their village, Maketu where they could become husband and wife. Mitai
did not like his brothers wives at all, as all they did was combing their hair and singing songs.
Instead of taking part of their village lives. All of Mitai’s brothers didn't go hunting but 

only left the Whare (house) to collect kai moana (seafood) for their wives. The wives didn't

eat the kai moana that the brothers provided them. The wives only wanted to eat something

that isn't kai moana.

Mitai's brothers eventually ate no longer, they no longer looked after their gardens or even  

care for their appearances. They became skinning and all their good looks became to

wash away. Mitai got suspicious of his brothers wives and watch them very carefully.

Mitai then saw that the wahine never agreed to leave there whare. Mitai's eldest brother

(Rongonui ) arrived home early from fishing. Rongonui yelled out for his wife and was no 

where to be found. After searching their whare Rongonui found that his other brothers wives
were no where to be found either. No one in the village had seen them either. A while after

Rougonui wife appeared. Rongonui asked his wife where she had been, Rongonui’s wife 

became into a terrible rage. Rongonui told all the wives how they just, vanished. Rongonui

was getting a bit worried but for Matai he became suspicion of the wives.

New Zealand is just one of many countries that has amazing plants and trees. In fact, the African desert is home to some pretty incredible plants, like the cactus. Some cacti are able to survive on as little as 3 milliliters (ml) of water a day. Wow!

Let’s imagine that you are given a cactus for your birthday. To keep it alive, you must give it 3 ml of water every day.

Over one full year, how much water will you need to give your cactus plant?

3x365=
The reason why I did 3x365 is because the plant needs 3 ml a day and the question is asking us how much water will it need for a whole year. A whole year is 365 days.

To solve this equation you will need to simplify the question. Simplify means to use less numbers than you already are using. I would go.
3x300=900

I know that this answer is correct because 3x3 is 9. If you add another zero to your equation then you will have to add another zero to you answer which will make it 90. The I will have to add another zero to make it 300. The final answer I get is 900. The next step I would to is to do 3x60. The 60 comes from the 365.
3x60=180

This is the same as the last equation, but is a little but different. Because 3x6= 18 you would have to add a one in front of the 80 to make it 180. Next you will have to go,
3x5=15

The 5 also comes from the 365. You can see that I added all the numbers up from that number. 300 from the 3 in the 365. The 60 from the 6 in 365 and the 5 in the 5 from 365. What you want to do know is to add up your first 2 answers.

900+180=1080

Next you will have to add your last answer together with the 1080.
1080+15= 1095/3x365=1095

Your final answer you should get is 1095. You will need 1095 ml water to water the plant for a year.

So these are the three teams I have chosen to use. I had to draw the silver Ferns uniform because I could use the right copyright. It’s pretty close to the normal uniform. I also had to add my own thing to the Tall Ferns uniform also for copyright. I will put links to the real uniform. (Silver Fern, Tall Ferns) So in my opinion my favorite uniform is actually the Silver Ferns. The reason why I pick this uniform is because it represent New Zealand the most. It is a black, white and silver uniform, with a silver Fern and also some silver Maori korus. The korus represent Maori, the silver represents their team and the Fern represents New Zealand!

Cave Art animation Term 4

Walt: Learn about different types of arts.

Task Description:

In this animation I have done a cave art animation. There are a group of friends who need food. One day they went for a walk and found a big wild pig. They wanted that for there dinner but they couldn't do it all on there own so they needed to find more people they did and defeated the wild pig.  They finally had enough food for the family for a lest 3 months. I am very proud of this animation as I did edit quite a lot.

Another Birthday

So today we are going to Happy Days (a restaurant) for my little cousins birthday. I'm very excited to go back to school because my cousin is turning 5. So you know what that means, he's coming to PT ENGLAND SCHOOL before we went any where we went to EXTREME a arcade/bowling center. I did pretty well with my bowling. I haven't done it in a while and my score was like 73, well around that number. After bowling we went over to the games. The fist game I played was (forgot what it's called) hit the clown (made that up). You got a timer and unlimited handballs to trow at the clowns. The top row was worth 30, the second was worth 20 and of course the bottom one was worth 10. My favorite game I played had to be the Laser Frenzy. We did quietly argue about who was going to swipe their card. Luckily I didn't have to swipe my card. My final score of tickets was 167, I decided to get myself a bunch of water balloons and a couple of lollies. After Extreme we had something to eat then went home. Once we got home I went to my room to get changed for netball training. 10 minutes later my mum took me to the netball courts. We did lots of running. After training my mum picked me u and took me home. When I arrived at home I ran inside and had a shower. After my shower I got changed, put my shoes on, did my hair and left. It was hard to find parking but eventually we found one. We sat in the restaurant for a while then the speeches then the prayer. We went to go get our food, then our 2nd then our desserts (ICE CREAM AND CAKE MM-MM) It was so fun playing around with my cousins especially the one who turned 5 Hahahahahah!

Reasearch:Birds

This is my research about bird. What I reached about is about bird migrations pattern. We got split into groups of 4 or 3 and got to pick what we wanted to learn about. I chose birds because there are different types and species of bird and I wanted to learn more about them. The people in my group are: Zaeeda and Eva. We all did lots of reaching and had lots of fun together.

Deep Dish Pizza

Task Description:

In this task room 7 had to create a poster about deep dish pizza. Mr Goodwin gave us questions and we had to answer them with facts we found out about. We had to include pictures and facts. In this task there are six facts about what I know about deep dish pizza.

The Disaster pizza

Walt:Write a story using interesting beginnings.

Mr Goodwin sat down to order his first Deep Dish Pizza. Only the chef had something different in mind
for Mr Goodwin’s pizza. Instead of the usual ingredients like cheese, tomato, and ham. The Chef instead
used most of the spiciest chilies. First was ghost peppers, next was jalapenos and lastly was Tabasco sauce.
Once the chef finished making Mr Goodwin's special pizza he went out of the kitchen and gave Mr
Goodwin his pizza.While handing his pizza the chef said “why don’t you have a try” Mr Goodwin’s face
turned bright red he felt like something went wrong but he didn’t want to be rude so he took his first bite
and his face turned dark red!!He panicked “I need water, I need water!”

As Mr Goodwin went on and on and on he finally stopped and said “What did you put in my pizza?” The
chef answers It was a surprise check the bottom of your pizza box. On the bottom of Mr Goodwin's pizza
box it said “I used ghost peppers, jalapenos and Tabasco sauce as you base” Mr Goodwin got mad and
said “I am never going to buy pizza from this store again I’m not even going to pay you but I am going to
take this pizza and prank some of my roommates” He said with a grin on his face “maybe Mr Jacobsen”
He didn’t want to prank Mr Burt because Mr Goodwin was scared that he would lose his job. Mr Goodwin
left dramatically without paying. He drove to his hotel and started to search for Mr Jacobsen. At last he
found Mr Jacobsen, but before Mr Goodwin told Mr Jacobsen take a bit he told Mr Burt about the prank,
Mr Burt was on board and wanted to prank Mr Jacobsen too.

They both went to Mr Jacobsen and talked for a bit, then Mr Jacobsen took his first bite. But he knew
something was coming so he tore off a piece really fast and he pretended that it wasn’t really spicy. Mr
Goodwin and Mr Burt were confused at first but then they said "let me see your pizza," then He gave his
pizza to Mr Goodwin, but Mr Burt and Mr Goodwin were even more confused. A while after Mr Goodwin
took another bite and his face turned dark red again. He screamed and then went to get milk, a while after
Mr Jacobsen laughed. Minutes later he got over himself and said “H...O….W is that not spicy. Mr Jacobsen laughed again and said “I didn’t even take a bite” as he went on and on. Finally Mr Goodwin learnt his lesson to never prank a teacher again. Although his mouth is still burning from all that spice.

Task Description:

In this piece of writing I have written a story about a Deep Dish Pizza. Room 7 had to use descriptive language and we also had to use interesting words. We had to write about Mr Goodwin in Chicago. Mr Goodwin gave us a beginning and room 7 got to chose a starter to start writing.

40 Hour Famine

Term 2 Animation

Walt: Create a movie including facts about how a plane can fly

Task Description:
In this animation I had to add facts about how an air plane flys and explain the four forces of flight. It took me a while to get some graphics done and detailed but I got it done eventually. The trickiest part of this animation had to be the writing for my voice over because it took me a while to understand the forces of flight and make sure my facts were true. The easiest part of my animation had to be the animating because I've animated lots of animations before and so I have lots of experience using hyperstudio. Hope you enjoy!
