Today in our bubble we joined our Te Reo Maori meeting with Miss Tapuke. We talked about the new work we have to complete this week. He pene tau? Have 'you' got a pen? We took turns asking each other if they had a specific item. Some said paint and some said pencils. In the slides we had to complete the responses in each speech bubbles using the correct words. My Invention :) ~ Literacy
Walt: Form and communicate ideas.
Task Description:
Miss Tapuke gave us something a bit interesting this week for Literacy. She gave us the task to sketch out an invention that'll be made and be useful for 2057. I decided to sketch out a drone that'll help us reduce our pollution. We then had to come up with 2 sentences that describes and tells my audience what it is and what it does. Then we had to come up with 3 names for our inventions and post it on our blogs!
Here's mine :)

My letter to you, Miss Tapuke!
Walt: Write for a specific purpose.
Kia Ora Miss Tapuke,
Kia Ora Miss Tapuke,
My name is Jahzara. I’m a Year 8 student at Pt England School. I have been attending Pt
England School since I was 5. As you may know, I am currently 12 years old turning 13 in June!
I am in fact the eldest female sibling in my family always working hard in the house :)

My favourite subject is writing! The reason why is because I’m able to chuck in any of my
thoughts and ideas. Writing makes me feel calm and free. I feel that my weakest subject is
Numeracy. I sometimes find it hard to understand some of the questions that I get asked, but I
must say that I love to find the Area and Perimeters of different types of shapes.

I enjoy playing netball and cricket. I’ve been playing netball ever since I was 7 years old. I’ve
had amazing opportunities to play netball in the Pacific Cup! I played for Tonga in 2016 & 2018
and in 2017 I played for Fiji. I also played cricket in 2017 and 2018 and decided to take a break
in 2019. Now I’m back and trying to be active with the family or even school teams.

I absolutely love music. Singing is actually one of my hobbies. I love playing the guitar and
ukulele. I know heaps of tunes and songs. When playing the guitar I enjoy finger picking. It’s one
of the ways to bring more empathy and life into my type of music. I am currently learning how to
play the keyboard/piano. I like to think of it as a splash of refreshment towards my mind.

I am really interested in gemstones. I love how the gemstones have their own type of power. I’ve
had a couple myself. My personal favourite has to be an amethyst. An Amethyst is known as a
protection stone. It is known to protect you from any spiritual attacks which I find very cool.

I am very excited to be in your literacy class this year. I know it’s going to be a blast, just like
last year! :)
last year! :)
Yours sincerely,
Jahzara.
Task Description:
Room 2 literacy was tasked to write Miss Tapuke a letter, introducing yourself. We were tasked
to make our letter interesting and thoughtful. This letter is to inform others, telling them what I'm
about and what I enjoy doing. I enjoyed this task because well, I like to write! You may have read
the letter already so you must know a lot about me now :)
Enjoy! :)

What makes a great sibling?
Walt: Identify and use features of explanation writing
What makes a good sibling?
What makes a great sibling? Any ideas? Here are some simple ways you could be a great sibling. It’s as simple as caring for them! Being supportive and treasuring all the little memories with them.
Firstly, caring for them is one of the simplest things you could do to be a great sibling. For example, if your siblings are having a bad day try and cheer them up. Put a smile on their face! You never know, it could make them and you happy! You could also care for them by, sticking up for them. Don’t let your guard down. Protect them with all your heart. Even if they don’t want to tell you things that make them feel down. Always be there to care for them!
Secondly, be supportive. Being supportive with things they’ve never done before. Being supportive with sports, just being supportive in general. By my experience, my siblings need a lot of support. Through the tough times, they may need someone there to stand by their side and support them. Everyone needs support and I reckon some siblings need it most! Even going to support an older/younger sibling at a sports game. Cheering them on and making sure they don’t give up.
Lastly, make the most with them. Remember every little memory with them. Every life lesson with them, use them along life. My point is, all your memories with them you should remember because once your siblings are old enough they’ll be doing their own things. They’ll have other things to do, other things to worry about and sooner or later they may not be able to pay much attention to you. Remembering the little things like their birthday or even a family trip.
So there you have it, being a great sibling is a simple thing to do. From caring for them, to making the most with them. Be a great sibling and treat them right! Care for them and support them! What do you think it takes to be a great sibling?

Should students have to wear school uniform?
Should students have to wear school uniform?
Walt: Support an opinion with relevant evidence.
Should students have to wear school uniforms? There are many different reasons to why we should wear school uniform and many others can agree with my statements. Not wearing school uniform could bring problems like bullies. And there’s another reason to why we should wear school uniform. Read on to find out more.
Firstly, having to wear uniform brings less stress. In the mornings trying to find outfits for the day can bring stress to many people. How? Well, when having to find an outfit, it takes time. And so “How will that bring stress?” If your school bell rings and your still busy trying to pick out an outfit then of course you're going to be at school late. Having to wake up to a uniform everyday will help kill time.
Secondly, because every student has to wear the same piece/look of clothing will help with bullies. When students come to school dressed in their choice of clothing others may judge them because what they are wearing. With uniform, bullies don’t get the chance of picking on someone because of what they’re wearing. Why is this? Well, because every student has to wear the same piece/look of clothing. It’ll be hard for bullies to find features to mock someone about.
Lastly. When wearing uniform it brings pride to their school. With students having their school logo, pride is shown when visitors come to visit and other schools as well. Uniform could also be for sports teams too. Not also when people come to your school but it’s also when your school visits other places. If you have ever visited a public place, wearing a school uniform may help the teachers keep track of students by not losing them.
Conclusion:
Wearing school uniform is very helpful with many different reasons. It could show pride in your school, bring less stress in the mornings and will help with bullying problems. There’s why I think students have to wear school uniform. Of course some of you may disagree but, I won’t debate. We all have our reasons.

Quick write (Death note)
My favourite Anime is Death Note.
Death Note first started off with a boy. He was a first year law student at university. One day he found a notebook. At the front of the book he found that the cover said, “Death Note.” This book came from another world, or as I like to use, another universe. The use of this book is to bring death upon bad or even good. The way this book works is, You write someone's name into the book. Using their first and last name. Once doing that, 6 minutes and 40 seconds will pass and whom you have written in the death note shall die with the cause of a heart attack. Light got addicted to the book and wanted to use it for criminals, he wanted it all for himself.
Reason 1:
What fascinates me is how people can get so addicted to one or more object so fast. Finding something on one day then, using it more than 5 times a day. Some people don’t notice that they are addicted to things. And in this case Light didn’t realize that he was addicted to the notebook he had found.
Reason 2:
Graphics. I found the graphics used in this show was on a high lead to my liking's. Other people may think differently to me but I believe Death note is a fantastic Anime show. The graphics are well detailed. I love the way the characters have been thought through carefully and have been drawn with lots of details.
Task Description:
In this piece of writing we only had 10 mins to write. We do quick write every now and then. The point of quick write is to warm our brains up to get ready for some other work. Quick write is also a time for us to think about the words we use and the structure of our writing.

Cinquian Poems
Walt: Create a cinquian.
Task Description:
In this task I had to create a cinquian. A cinquian is a short story but in poem form. The first line has to have 2 syllables, the second has 4, the third has 6, the fourth has 8 and the last one has 2. So as I have just explained there has to have five lines in a cinquian poem. Have a look at my poems that I have created in the next slides ahead. Comment down below if you have come up with any poems of your own.
