What is Taha Whanau? ~ Inquiry ~ Room 4!
This week we have been looking a lot at the 4 Taha's of health. For this task we took a closer look at Taha Whanau which is about relationships with family, friends, ETC. We talked about how it is affected by lockdown and how we could support it. We also talked in group about what 'we' think it means.

Taha Whanau! ~ Inquiry :)
For this task we had to label the jobs everyone in my bubble had done. The roles they did :)
My brother looked after us while our parents were either working or sleeping because they were tired. He also made us laugh and bought humor to lockdown by telling jokes and showing us many different funny videos. Other then that he also played nice songs to vibe to while we were meant to be doing work :)
My sister did her job in cleaning. She made sure she did her dishes, etc. She turned our lounge into a movie cinema for the twins and entertained by coming up with new things to do almost everyday.
Dad cooked us all dinner while mum was at work. He made sure we were well feed and on top of that he did his role in being an essential worker. He worked very hard. He also encouraged us to finish our work, to attend out meetings, and to be fully ready in the mornings.
Mum also did some cooking for us too! But as she was at work, she found it hard coming home and making dinner. Which is why she relied on my dad :) As said, she did her part in being an essential worked and worked very hard also :) Other then that, she shopped for the things we needed during lockdown and also cleaned every mornings before she was off to work.

( I know I wasn't suppose to do as many paragraphs as I had done, but I felt a bit weird as I hadn't finished my work on time so I decided to do a bit of extra work to motivate me to do better next time and to Finish It Off Properly! )

Bring it on!
2020, a new start. This year has already been flying past and so I’m sure I need to set some goals. I actually have a few goals for 2020. One of my goals is to be a good role model for others. As part of being leader for 2020 not just for Kapa Haka but for the school too, I think I should be setting goals to improve my leadership skills. Another goal I have set for myself is to try new things. Things like new sports, new things at home and more. I think that everybody should be able to try new things because sticking to one thing is simple. The world isn’t simple and so why should people be basic and simple? I want to be able to take the risks and reach for the stars!

Having a closer look at onion cells!
Scientific Experiments:
Aim :
Are we going to be able to see a clear picture of onion cells?
Hypothesis :
We’ll be able to see the cells by 10x
Equipment :
First we received our equipment. We then used the tweezers to peel a thin layer of onion and placed it onto the slide. Next we used saline to flatten the onion layer. We then used blue dye so we were able to see the outlines of the cells. Lastly we placed the cover slip on top of the slide and placed our finished object on the microscope.
Observation :
Even at 10x we were able to see the basic shapes of the cell. We were also able to see the cells from 10x and 40x. When using 100x all we saw was purple.
Conclusion :
Onion cells are very interesting to study. Even with a low observation you are still able to see the cells.

Octopus poster :)
In this poster we had to list 8 facts about a octopus. For every tentacle we had to come up with a different fact. We then had to post our poster on our blog and summarize what we learnt about. To complete this poster we had to post a title, write a task description and add labels.
Some of the things we learnt about is, where octopuses live. They like to hang around coral reefs and in the shallow grounds under the water. We also learnt about, what type of species octopuses are. We found that the octopuses are mollusks.

Create Your Own Google Logo
Today room 9 & 10 had 2 special guests Makayla and Nathan. Makayla and Nathan are from OMG tech. OMG tech is a coding company. If you don't know what coding is, here is you answer. Coding is where you can make you own games you can also play on other peoples games that they have made their self. One of the games that I played was Create our own google logo. Create your own google logo is when you can do anything. You can change the color, you can do anything to the letters, you can even make them move. Also even change the background. I made my own google logo, my google logo was representing out topic for this term which is musical madness. Create your own google logo was a cool game to play. I loved creating my own logo.
