Day 5: Wasting away
Activity 3: Faded Glory
On your blog, list three different ideas or strategies for raising funds to preserve the Great Barrier Reef. What could you do to fundraise here in New Zealand?I have had some experience with fundraising for important things like raising money for the 40 hour famine and for autism also know as ASD.
The 40 hour famine is a fundraiser for the people in south Sudan. We fundraised money for the people who lost their families and has no food to eat. We do this fundraiser at school. Our goal is to not eat any food except for barley sugars and drink only water or just juice.
The ASD stands for the Autism Spectrum Disorder. At the ASD we learn how to play basketball with autism kids. We teach them very carefully how to dribble the ball, to pass and more. Our sessions go on every Wednesday. Each person that turns up will have to provide $2 dollars.
1. Set up a activity for a month or so for a good causing
2. Garage sale/Bake sale
3. Mowing the lawn for your neighbors/family
4. A fun day (Bouncy castles, games and water activities)
Stay tuned for more holiday blogging.
Hey there Jahzara, my name is Billy and I am from the Summer Learning Journey team. I was commenting on some of your blog posts last summer - perhaps you remember?
ReplyDeleteI hope you've had a lovely Christmas and a good start to your new year.
It's awesome to see that you've been working really hard on the SLJ activities. Keep it up!
Congratulations on all the work you've done for the 40 hour famine. It's really impressive that you and your friends are so dedicated and selfless. That alone would be enough, but you also help out children with autism each week. What a kind person you are! The world needs more people like you.
It's a shame that humans have been destroying the Great Barrier Reef's ecosystem. It might be a good idea to stop people from visiting it for a few years to allow it to rebuild.
Have you been swimming or snorkeling much this summer?
Thanks, Billy.
Hi Billy,
DeleteOf course I remember, We had a fun conversion and our own game show!
The reason why I care about children with autism is because my cousin actually has autism. I like to support my family even if they're having problems.
I also care about different countries that need lots of help. Each yea I try my best to raise the most money I can. This year I raised the most money along with my sister Eva and one of my good friends Leilani.
Actually no I haven't gone snorkeling but I have gone swimming a lot this holidays, have you?
Thanks,
Jahzara
Hey Jahzara, I apoligise for the super late reply!
DeleteThat's wonderful to hear that you're so supportive of people in your community. Haha I am glad that you remember! I haven't been swimming at the moment because I am not currently living in New Zealand. Last June, I moved to the other side of the world to London, England. It's currently winter time - so no swimming. It hasn't snowed yet but I am sure it will soon. It's been around zero degrees lately. Life here is pretty fun, there is so much history and culture. Lots of things to checkout and see.
Do you have any aims to travel when you're older? Where would you like to go? What would you like to see?
Thanks. Billy.
Hey there Billy, no worries about it,
DeleteThanks for the comment. Ohh amazing to hear that you moved to London, England. Of course it'll be super cold so you would have no time to swim, right? Well, I've never gone to visit the snow yet but i'm hoping to soon. No, not really. I've never really planed to travel anywhere that much. Although like I said I hope to visit the snow, maybe at New Zealand or even another country. I'm hoping to go travel to Tonga real soon. I hope to visit my families and all the luxurious beaches! The beaches there are amazing, with hardly and shells in the sand and the water. Some big waves, but those are the best!
Thanks,
Jahzara
Hey there Jahzara!
ReplyDeleteI have just read your other comments and it is said to hear the your own cousin has autism , it's hear breaking to hear that a family member of my friend has autism. God bless him to get much better for in the future.
Last year we did also raise money for kids in need. That was a very fun time raising money for them. You and Eve did a amazing job at fundraising money for the kids , as well with our other friends.
Your ideas for helping the Great Barrier Reef are very helpful. I bet people how need help would enjoy the idea you have for them where they can enjoy life. That cab also been the the 40 hour famine! I love your bake sale/garage sale. I love all bake goods , they are such a fantastic treat! My two favourite idea's of your would be doing activities for people who are in need , as well as doing a carnival for kids , adults or just anyone who would like to go! Have you ever been to a carnival before? I have only been to the Easter carnival! What other carnival's do you recommend for others to go to?
Anyways , your doing such a great job at summer blogging! Keep up the great work.
Cheers ,
Leilani.
Talofa Leilani,
DeleteWell, know you, you care about you friends and I thank you for that. My cousin is getting much better and is learning lots of new things.
I'm glad to hear that you have also raised money for kids needs. You also did an amazing job with raising money for south Sudan, as you did get top raiser too.
Thanks. I am also hoping that the people who need help and money to get through there lives would be happy to see this blog post. I also love bake sales/garage sales too. I love all the yummy food people have backed and also amazing deals. At garage sales I love to look for yummy sweets and some things for my sisters or myself, What about you? Hmmm? Another carnival I would recommend going to is maybe gala's. Gala's have fun games to play, fun rides, amazing food and sweets. I went there once with my family and it was so much fun!
Thanks,
Jahzara
