Year 8 Camp ~ Term 3 :)

Last week on the 5th of August the year 8 student had the opportunity to attend the Year 8 Leadership Camp at Kauaeranga Valley Christian camp. We had 3 days away from our family and the year 7's. I was in the team Kauaeranga A. My captain in charge was Leilani! The whole point of this camp was to step up and to take charge which really shone through :)

Highlights, Activities:

Activities! I absolutely loved all the activities but my personal favorite was Being in the Gym, Rail Jiggers and Archery! Tyson was the supervisor in the gym. At one point, he told us to line up on the base line. "Go for a run." That was pretty rude but in the end we ended up playing noodle fight. Well, Leilani, Paige Delijah, and I did. We also played around the world. Not the maths game, but the shooting game. Whoever won, then would get a bad of lollies from Tyson.

Rail Jiggers:

This activity was tragic! There was a lever thing that you had to pull and push to make the carts go. Instead of doing so, we were going backwards. We found our way round and eventually made the carts go forward. We had a lot of problems. We also played red light green light, which didn't end up so well. Some of the memories were captured on Mrs Telea's lovely camera.

Archery:

Open range, closed range, retrieve arrows! Those were the 3 calls for our activity. Closed range meant to place your bow and arrows back onto the tire. Open fire meant to shoot and aim at your targets and retrieve arrows meant to go collect your arrows. A couple of times I was able to hit the blue part of the target and almost hit the bullseye. Some of our team members were able to hit it too!

I would like to say a massive thank you to the owners of Kauaeranga Valley Christian camp. Shelli and Phil! The year 8s had an absolute wonderful time at camp. The activities, food and the movie watching was a delight! I hope we get to see you lot soon :) You've taught us that, some of us don't have as much confidence then others and going on this camp has helped us to see it clearly. You've also encouraged us to motivate and to bring others up more often! Thank you lots and lots :)
